The Angell Family Lauretta Angell, wife of Lee, Sister-in Law of Harless, passed away Thursday in Texas.

Eunice Hodges as she has and recovers from Hip Surgery.

Nelda Cannaday will have hip surgery on September 10th.

Paul Milstead, Carroll’s nephew, following surgery.

Elivis & Berlin Flora continue to need prayer.

Paul Flint as he recovers from a stroke.

Hazel Moyer as she recovers from Back Surgery.

Joe Yopp had a good report from his Aneurysm.

Gracie Glass out of hospital but in the Nursing Home.

Joyce Hodges as she gets weaker in speech.

Virlina Request - Pray for the Bethel Church in Arrington, Virginia and their interim pastor, Stan Ogden, as the congregation celebrates their 100th Anniversary on September 20th. Let us give thanks to God for the "great cloud of witnesses" whose courage, faithfulness and ministry has preceded ours and provides the foundation upon which we build for the future.

“Building Peace in the Body of Christ” will be held

3 PM at Roanoke, Oak Grove Church of the Brethren, 2138 McVitty Road. Speakers will be J.Michael Varner, Pastor of Topeco CoB and Timothy P. Harvey, Pastor of Roanoke, Central CoB. Refreshments and fellowship will follow the service.

Sunday, September 20 Voice of Praise – 6 P.M.

Please mark your calendars for a performance of Voice of Praise. Held at Bethlehem and our church will provide light refreshments. Check the bulletin board for a photo of this male ensemble, as well as our county paper on Friday. Invite your friends and family to a wonderful evening of music!

An Adult beginner group will meet at 4 PM;

A Utility Cart has been purchased by

the Women’s Fellowship for use in the kitchen and Fellowship Hall.

VIRLINIA DISTRICT INFO –

1) Connie Runion, a licensed minister of the Crab Orchard Church, is in the Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital with congestive heart failure. She will be transferred to Charleston, West Virginia as soon as possible for intensive treatment. Please pray for her.

2) Vassie Vaught, a member of the Copper Hill Church, will serve as interim pastor at the Saint Paul Church in Cana, Virginia effective September 1st.

3) Duncan Chapel Church of the Brethren will celebrate their 50th

Anniversary on Sunday, September 13th beginning at 11 a.m. The morning worship will be led by Elbert Lee Naff. At 12 Noon, the church will provide lunch. Afternoon worship will be let by Roy Turpin dealing with the history of congregation. Virlina Executive David K. Shumate will speak afterwards. Please

come and share the Golden Celebration with us. The church is located at 2176 Duncan Chapel Road (Virginia Route 730) in Willis, Virginia, seven and one half miles west of Virginia Route 8. If you need further directions contact Pastor Stanley Hawkins at (540) 745-2720.

4) The Annual Conference Office move from New Windsor to Elgin has been accelerated. The office is moving September 8-11, 2009. Future correspondence should be sent to Church of the Brethren Annual Conference, 1451 Dundee Avenue, Elgin, IL, 60120. Phone numbers are Chris Douglas, Conference Director, (847) 742-5100, x228; Jon Kobel, Conference Assistant, (847) 742-5100, x229. Chris Douglas will be functioning in her new role as Conference Director starting September 14, 2009. Retiring conference director Lerry Fogle will be onsite in Elgin for training during multiple periods in September through November.

5) The Virlina District Resource Center will be closed from 4:30

p.m. on Friday, September 4th until 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8th.

6) Please note that the Virlina District Conference will be held on

November 13-14, 2009 at the GREEN RIDGE BAPTIST CHURCH in Roanoke, Virginia.
